So there I was…working a crap job. It started off ok, got worse, got worse yet, then worse still. Then the position got terrible and I was just one miserable puppy. I knew something had to be done. My family and friends noticed things just weren’t right (let alone me bemoaning the fact things just weren’t as grand as they should be). Yet, with the global economy the way it is, I couldn’t really just quit my job, could I? Not really the smartest thing to do.
Well, that is until the job got so bad that my health was being affected plus I was just absolutely miserable. Luckily I am one of those people that has a constant desire to improve things in life if there’s room for improvement. No resting on my laurels here!
I was able to find a better job…rock on.
I also started a new company…sweet. Why wait for someone else to pay me, tell me what to do, let me go? I’d much rather control my own destiny, especially in these times. It seems counter-intuitive in these times to go off and do your own thing. It’s a scary world out there but it can actually be safer if you handle it correctly. Out of this new company I was able to open up a whole new world of opportunities (you may want to read the details of it all in the post “Be Ready For Any Opportunity” on the Chia Town site)…one of which is so very exciting that I’m diving in head first.
The point of all this though is that as we move through life we sometimes get onto a path…a career path, a relationship path, a lifestyle path…that may or may not be who we really are. As we travel down this path there may be slight deviations from time to time…deviations so small that we don’t really notice them. However after time we may be so far off track of who we really are that we have to make a big adjustment to get back on track. It’s ok to make these changes…really, it is. Hopefully we can catch these deviations before the needed changes become too big (sometimes dauntingly large) but even if they do reach that point, we owe it to ourselves and to our loved ones to make the changes and get back to being who we are.
And there ya have it. No matter who you are, what country you live in, what your current status is, you should take some time to look at who you are and who you want to be. If you see changes that need to be made, figure out what you’ve got to do and do it. You may be breaking out of your immediate comfort zone but it should be putting you into a better place ultimately…and that’s what we all want.
And don’t forget those goals…make a list of them and work on achieving them. Putting it down on paper not only makes it so much more real, but it also serves as a reminder. Once they’re in your head they can unconsciously start being worked on and before you know it you’ve just knocked a few off your list.
Here’s to good family, good friends, following your passions and remaining true to yourself!
