Respect For Other People and Property

What is it with people these days? It seems as if they have absolutely no respect for other people, other people’s property, their feelings, etc. I bring this up because today I found yet ANOTHER ding in my car. WTF people? This is my property, just like your house is your property. I pay a hefty chunk of my paycheck each month for this. More on this than my rent actually (not that I have an expensive car…it’s just a bottom-of-the line Subaru Legacy…I just happened to have found some dirt cheap rent).

So let me get this straight…there’s a distinction between my car and my house? It’s ok for me to smash my door into yours in the parking lot, but it’s not ok for me to come to your house and kick in some paneling outside? Or is it ok? I’m getting confused…

I find this all rather irritating. When did people lose respect for others? Or maybe this is just because I’m back on the east coast and there’s more of a “me me” attitude out here? I dunno…but whatever it is, it’s annoying.

Addendum: After putting up this post, I went to grab breakfast in our breakroom. There was a line of roughly a dozen people. I was third in line. We’re all waiting outside. Setup is door, table in the middle of the room with donuts and fruit, table against the far wall (other side of fruit table) with eggs, chicken fingers, tots, etc. The line is wrapping around the middle table on the left and moving left to right along the main table. I’m sitting there grabbing some eggs (middle of main table) and someone walks past the entire line, stands to my right, and reaches right in front of my face to get the chicken that is on my left. WTF??? Someone even commented how rude that was and she goes “I’m just being efficient. While you all were waiting in line I already fixed a plate”. Riiiiiight…
