Putting It Out There

Hello my loyal (and new) readers. It’s time once again to revisit the lessons that The Secret has to teach. I apologize for taking so long to write since my last post, but life has certainly been busy…and I’m happy to say it’s all been good stuff that’s been keeping me busy. I’ll try not to go so long between

Stay True To Yourself

As we go through life we’re inevitably forced to wear many masks. We have our home life, our work life, our active life, our mellow life…the options can be limitless. Sometimes we change our persona because we have to, sometimes we do it out of choice. However, as each day passes, as we live our life, we must remember to

“The Alchemist” vs. “The Secret”

As I wander through this grand thing called life, sniffing flowers here, avoiding cars there, I can’t help but think back to things that have had me thinking about how I live my life. Two sources of unique inspiration that I’ve had is the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho and the book/video called “The Secret”. Long time readers of

How We Impact Each Other’s Lives

Whether we know it or not, we all impact the lives of those around us. Obviously we have an impact on those that are close to us but in many cases we also impact the lives of those that we simply come in contact with. I was reminded of this in two different occasions within the past week or so.

Set Goals To Make Today’s Craziness Bearable

I know…I know…it’s been far too long since I last wrote something deep and inspirational. Do I have a good reason? I of course like to think I do…but don’t we all think we have good reasons for doing things? The truth of it all is I’ve simply been worn out with the new gig I’m doing and it leaves

R.I.P. Randy Pausch

Randy Pausch passed away today after a bout with pancreatic cancer. Randy earned his doctorate from Carnegie Mellon (my alma mater) and later returned to become a professor at CMU. I never had the opportunity to meet this man but I wish I would have. Not only was he brilliant in the ways of computer science, it was his way

Getty Images and Flickr Make It Possible For All Of Us To Be Paid Photographers

Getty Images and Flickr just made a deal where Getty will search Flickr’s vast library of images and if Getty finds one they think is marketable, they will contact the photographer and ask if they’d be interested in letting Getty add that image to their library of licensed photography. These photographers can then receive royalty payments when their images are

Finding Inspiration In Those Around You

It’s been an interesting couple of months as most of my life revolved around looking for new work (ah, the joys of being a contractor…blehhhhh). One forgets how sucky it is looking for a new gig until they’re thrown in it and realize they have no time to do anything else in life. But alas…every now and then I’ve been

PageFlakes To Be Bought By Live Universe

TechCrunch is reporting that PageFlakes, a custom homepage-building site, is being bought by Live Universe. This is exciting news for startups abound as we see a company with a good product but not loads of money succeeding in the ever busy tech world of Silicon Valley. I’ve been using PageFlakes for well over a year now and couldn’t be happier

Alice Walker Speaks at Emory

I had the pleasure resently to be invited to attend a reading by Alice Walker at Emory University. It’s been quite a while since I read anything from her (she’s most famous for “The Color Purple” but has many other writings out there) but I did recall enjoying her writings. I had no idea what to expect but the experience
