Randy Pausch passed away today after a bout with pancreatic cancer. Randy earned his doctorate from Carnegie Mellon (my alma mater) and later returned to become a professor at CMU. Getty Images and Flickr just made a deal where Getty will search Flickr’s vast library of images and if Getty finds one they think is marketable, they will contact the photographer and ask if they’d be interested in letting Getty add that image to their library of licensed photography. This is exciting news for startups abound as we see a company with a good product but not loads of money succeeding in the ever busy tech world of Silicon Valley.
